TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas will bank on the support of Mandaluyong residents as it wraps up the campaign season for the 2025 midterm elections with a grand miting de avance in the area on Friday.
Alyansa on Thursday has confirmed that the venue of the miting de avance is in Mandaluyong — hometown of one of its senatorial candidates, former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos.
The grand rally will be held along Nueve de Febrero Street — which is considered the historic site of Mandaluyong City’s liberation and founding day.
“This Miting de Avance is the final rallying cry of a campaign powered by the people,” Alyansa campaign manager and Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco said in a statement.
“From the first rally in Laoag to the final stage in Mandaluyong, the message has been the same—Filipinos want a Senate that delivers for them,” he added.
According to Tiangco, the rally in Mandaluyong will confirm that Alyansa is gaining steam once again, as candidates’ rankings have improved.
No. 1 supporter
Alyansa’s number one supporter, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is expected to rally even more support for the 11-person slate.
“The rally in Mandaluyong will show just how strong and united the Filipino people are behind Alyansa and the vision of Bagong Pilipinas,” Tiangco noted.
A survey from Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Thursday showed that Alyansa still dominates the Senate race, with ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo leading the pack, getting 45 percent of the respondents’ votes.

Behind Tulfo is former Senate President Vicente Sotto III (3rd, 37 percent); Senator Lito Lapid (4th, 34 percent); former senator Panfilo Lacson (6th, 32 percent); Makati Mayor Abby Binay (7th, 31 percent); Deputy Speaker Camille Villar (9th, 30 percent); Senator Pia Cayetano (10th, 29 percent); and Senator Bong Revilla (11th, 29 percent).
Since the Alyansa launched its campaign last February, the slate has visited 15 areas, plus two trips to Cebu and Pampanga upon the invitation of local officials there.
Alyansa stopped by President Marcos’ bailiwick of Ilocos Norte, followed by Iloilo, Davao del Norte, Pasay City, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Leyte, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Pangasinan,
Quezon, Batangas, and Malolos in Bulacan.
Tiangco hopes voters will pick candidates who will support Marcos’ legislative agenda.
“Let us pick candidates who will support President Marcos’ legislative agenda and people’s interests until the end of his term,” Tiangco noted. / MR
